MeyGen Limited

MeyGen Limited is the development company and project sponsor working with both Atlantis Resources Corporation (ARC) and Andritz Hydro Hammerfest (AHH) in the deep waters between the island of Stroma and the north easterly tip of the Scottish mainland. Both ARC and AHH have over a decade of experience in development of tidal power devices culminating in both companies deploying 1MW prototypes at the European Marine Energy Centre in 2011.

In September 2013, Scottish ministers gave MeyGen Limited consent to build the first tidal energy project in the Pentland Firth.  The company will install the tidal array in stages, beginning with a six megawatt demonstration project of four turbines.

Dan Pearson, CEO of MeyGen, explains the technology and gives his view on the Saltire Prize Challenge.
