West Islay Tidal

DP Marine Energy’s West Islay tidal project lies approximately 6km off the Rinns of Islay, one of the southern and western most islands of Argyll and Bute, in South West Scotland.

Ultimately it is anticipated that the project will have an installed capacity of many hundreds of MWs but the initial phase for which a consent application has been lodged with Marine Scotland is for a project of 30MWs. The project is located in an area of approximately 2sq km with water depths of around 30metres.

The approach adopted by DP Marine Energy is one of a technology neutral developer albeit based on an open rotor device such as that provided by Siemens MCT, Alstom TGL or Andritz Hammerfest.
